Jamie Meyer is an independent singer-songwriter, born 1980 in Gothenburg, Sweden
Meyer got a big breakthrough in Sweden 2002 when he finished in third place in the television show Popstars (a predecessor to Idol, the Swedish equivalent of American Idol). He signed an agreement with Sony Music Sweden. In 2003, Meyer released his debut album, “It`s All About Me”. He started to work with Jörgen Elofsson, a well known Swedish songwriter and producer. Two of the songs on the album, “Never Again” and “Don’t Even Go There”, were co-written by Bryan Adams. The title track “It´s All About Me” was co-written by Robyn, the Swedish singer and songwriter. Meyer received a nomination for the Best New Artist of the Year at the 2003 Rockbjörnen Awards. As well as Best Male Artist of the Year at the NRJ Music Awards, both of which are well-known music awards in Sweden. After one year he left Sony Music Sweden to become independent singer-songwriter. He spent time in England and United States writing songs, and working with Phil Thornalley, among others.
In 2008, Meyer released a second album, “Great Big Change”. He received the prize Best Singer-Songwriter at the L.A Music Awards. In 2010, the third album, “Good Night be Young” was released digitally in the United States. At the Hollywood Music in Media Awards the title track was nominated in the country category. The album was released in Sweden 2012.
Meyer released the single “Holy Ground to Me” 2016. The lyric and video was inspired by Meyer´s upbringing on Hisingen, Gothenburg, Sweden. The video was nominated Best Video at the Indieville Awards (a television show in Nashville) 2017.
The music video for the single “Nothin on You” sheds light on domestic violence. It made it into the top 10 video countdown at Taste of Country and stayed there for 13 straight weeks. The video was also nominated in the category Independent Music Video at the 9th Hollywood Music in Media Award 2018.
Meyer has collaborated with Håkan Mjörnheim since 2005. In recent years Meyer has played frequently in Nashville, and has on several occasions performed at the famous Bluebird Cafe in Nashville. He started working with songwriters in Nashville, such as Jimmy Mattingly and Johnny Garcia, both longtime members in Garth Brooks band.
In 2018, Meyer signed a publishing deal with Nashville-based Dan Hodges Music and RoastingHouse Music, based in Sweden. He has previously toured with GES (Glenmark, Eriksson & Strömste
Meyer released a cover version of U2’s “Where the Street Have No Name” in June, 2020.
Today Meyer travels between the United States and Europe to write, record and perform.
